LARKS NOTES
This Bird Has Flown...
Hello Folks, To all our family and friends and especially our loyal fans I first want to apologize for taking so long to update this news column and second I want to thank you for all your support over these last five or six years that we have been doin ' our thing. It has truly been wonderful to bring you the type of music that we have been playin, a type not often supported or even heard very often in this area. But now it looks like the birds are leaving the nest. While The Larks will still exist as an entity, we will not be playing very many shows in the near future. Everyone in the group will still be working regularly, but in other projects. It has been a great run of jazz on the Eastern Shore and we look forward to bringing The Larks back one day. Please check back often to find out where you can hear archived Larks Shows and when and where you can hear the various members of the band in their various projects. Also feel free to hit us up on myspace/larksjazz. Until next time...Peace!

End of an Era...
At least for now The Larks favorite venue, Charisma, has closed its doors for reasons unknown to us at this time. You may still see our name on the marquee (which is very cool) but we won ' t be playing there until further notice. Not to worry though, you will still be able to catch some Larks shows (check the ' Showtimes ' page) as we will be incorporating Pam Miller into more shows and stretching our repitoire to include more rock and pop tunes. Pete and Company will be returning to Market Street Inn for their first show there in over two years! This show will feature a more unplugged and classic sound than a typical show and, at least for now, will not include a full drum kit. This is being billed as a " Big Welcome Back " so come out and help welcome us back to this cool locals pub. The wheel is turning and you can ' t slow down!

The Larks Throw Down
Wow! What a great show last friday at Charisma! Thanks so much to all our friends and fans, both old and new, who came out and showed us your love. Thanks also to all the musicians in the house who came out to support. If you missed it, well you missed quite a treat. From our new bassist, Brian, who threw down the jams, to our new Stones cover, to the impromptu drum-off where we had Curt of Dash Eight, Andy of T.R.O.N., and local boy Eddie Flemming sit in back to back to back! Kickin ' out the improv jams as only The Larks can do. Don ' t miss our next gig, Friday Oct. 21 back at Charisma. See you there. Peace.

Benefit A Success
The first official " Live Music for Life " benefit concert was a success. Our thanks to all the bands that participated and especially all the volenteers who made it happen. We had a great time and can ' t wait to do it again. No word yet on the grand total raised but it is somewhere in the thousands. The Larks will be at Charisma this friday, Sept 9 and due to popular demand this and all future shows here will be from 9pm-1am unless otherwise noted. A couple of hot jazz shows are taking place this fall just up the road in Easton at The Avalon Theater: Al Di Meola Sept 22, and Dave Weckl Band Oct 13. Check out www.avalontheater.com for more info. These promise to be two world class shows right here in our area!

Jazz Scene Suffers Loss
Last week the jazz community suffered a great loss with the passing of bassist Phil Miller at the age of 57. Phil made his living playing bass and painting. He has a studio on 2nd Street in Lewes where you can purchase some of his wonderful paintings. Phil could be found playing almost every night of the week here of late and has played with just about everybody including The Larks and an 8 month weekly run with the Pete Bozick Duo at Market Street. He will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his widow, Bonnie.

Last Blast
This friday ' s show will be our last at Charisma for a few weeks or even months as we slow down a little for the summer to work on new material, side projects, and basically just chill out. Make sure you get your last taste of Live Larks this friday, 5/27, 10pm. While you ' re there wish C.T. a happy birthday too! Peace.
